01 / A LITTLE STRUCTURE, PLENTY OF SLACK

The shape of the weekend

Lunch is the anchor. Coffee is conditional.
The afternoon belongs to the gallery.

12

Saturday

COFFEE → LUNCH → ART → BBQ

  1. First, a coffee — if there’s time

Danbo’s at Pax Hill. Aim to arrive comfortably before its provisional noon close. If the drive runs late, skip this stop and head to lunch.

    Coffee details ↗
  2. MAIN LUNCH PROPOSAL

    Settle in at Traralgon RSL

A straightforward sit-down lunch with room to catch up. Published lunch service is noon–2 pm; the proposed meeting time is 12:15 pm.

    Lunch details ↗
  3. An afternoon at the gallery

Head to Morwell for Latrobe Regional Gallery. Allow 60–90 minutes for light, landscape and local stories. The gap after lunch allows for the transfer; it is not a verified driving ETA.

    What’s showing ↗
  4. Leave some space

Return to Traralgon, relax and let the afternoon breathe. No need to add another destination.

  5. Backyard barbecue

A relaxed backyard BBQ, warm layers and a slow evening outdoors. Any bonfire depends on permission, weather and fire restrictions.

13

Sunday

A SLOW MORNING → HOMEWARD

  1. Ease into the day

Breakfast and a gentle start. Don’t rely on Danbo’s: directory hours indicate it is closed Sundays.

  2. A riverside wander at Sandbanks

Only if the public entrance is clear and the ground is suitable. Think trees and birds, not a confirmed walking circuit. Skip it if access or weather is uncertain.

Access gaps & place search ↗
  3. Homeward, early afternoon

Keep the return comfortably early. Check live navigation and allow a stop and traffic buffer; leave earlier if needed. This is a planning target, not a calculated arrival guarantee.

04 / THE LAST FIVE MINUTES

Before you go

Confirm the practical bits

  • Agree the 12:15 pm RSL lunch proposal and numbers; check table availability.
  • Recheck Danbo’s Saturday hours and arrival ETA. Skip if too tight.
  • If swapping to Good Land, confirm its kitchen service.
